AG: 9/29

First off some explanations. OA means overall. So for this race, I was the 47th fastest person out of 284 people. AG means Age Group. For this race, I was the 9th male age 25-29 out of 29.

Secondly, it's been over three years since I started this blog and I haven't written one word since. I'd like to be better about writing because the more time passes, the less I remember about these races and I don't want to forget. I will do my best.

I don't remember signing up for this race. I don't remember much of doing the race.  I will write down what I do remember of this race.

I'm pretty sure I thought that doing a triathlon in reverse order was weird, but whatver, I ran (literally) with it. I'm also pretty sure I thought swimming in a pool felt a little bit like cheating, but again, I ran... er... swam... with.. it?

I remember it being cold.

I remember feeling like I was flying during the run. It was a pretty good 5k time and at the writing of this post, I'm not entirely sure I could, right now replicate it.

I remember climbing the hill on the bike ride and being frustrated. A little background: this race was a two loop course. I was frustrated because during my second loop, I was passing some rather large people on mountain bikes. I was frustrated becuase I couldn't understand how these people could have had a better run than me. I later realized that they were probably on their first loop while I was finishing up my second loop.

I rember getting run over in the pool on my last length. For most pool swim triathlons, you jump in, swim the length of the pool, duck under the lane divider, then swim back. It's called a serpantine swim because you kind of "snake" your way through the pool. As I pushed off the wall on my last length, I could see a girl pushing off the wall at the same time. She ran over me and I was forced under for a little longer than I was comfortable. When I finished I got out of the pool and saw the girl that had run me over. She looked like Dara Tores so I figured I'd let it go. Writing that now seems dumb but I also realize now that getting mad over anything that happens in the water during a triathlon is also dumb.

I also remember looking at my times for this race and making the realization that I could, with a little work, finish this race in under an hour.

That's about it. As I write this, I'm looking over pictures of other triathlons and there are a lot I don't remember but every race I have done teaches my just a little bit more about racing. I also didn't get pictures from this race. After staring, I have tried to get at lease one photo from every race I do, even if that means I have to spend $20+ for one photo. Hope you've enjoyed the read. I'm going to try and write in here once, maybe twice a week. Thanks for reading.
